Music for a Sleeping City (for orchestra) is the latest single from composer and performer Leah Blankendaal. A love letter to Adelaide, and to South Australia, this work explores what it is to find home somewhere unexpected.
Recorded by the Australian Music Centre as part of their 2025 Momentum Plus Orchestral Recording Project, Music for a Sleeping City is a moment of reflection, or exhale, for the people, sensations, and places that make us feel at ease.
Although melody marks a moment in the composer’s life, the experience of finding home somewhere unexpected is universal. Wherever home may be, may you find a piece of it in this work.
Conducted by Joanna Drimatis, produced by Jessica Wells. Recorded at Trackdown Studios, mastered at Wizard Tone Studios.
